Teenagers in the dark scaring women in the park They’re not the nicest creatures haven’t had the best of starts Their mother doesn’t love them because their father up and left When he saw their muelling faces bursting from her bloody chest There’s a crack in the ceiling and the water’s coming in But I’m scared to go outside with everything I’ve been reading If you were more exciting you’d be living in sin You should be starting riots but you’re just moaning I tried to tell you how to walk how to run I kind of hoped that you would play along Give me my ball back I want to go home I saw you on the tv you’re a talented kid You got your 15 minutes and you deserved it But lets not rock the boat not whilst it’s going so well I mean sure they’re laughing at you but that’s just how it goes in hell The drunken crowds are cheering as the missiles start to hit And if your children are starving well you voted for it The prime minister’s laughing because he’s got it in the bag He holds another party whilst we bury granddad I tried to tell you how to walk how to run I kind of hoped that you would play along Give me my ball back I want to go home

Postpartum 05:42
Endlessly defeated by such a tiny thing I can’t think when you’re screaming I’m trying to teach you the best way to survive but I’m lacking motivation when you won’t play nice And everything that’s ever done is always done for you I used to sleep and fuck and eat but now I never do So tell me what you’re feeling when you’re feeling like this I’m drowning in the emotion of all your constant shit I’m freaking out a bit I mean like honestly I’m done I’ll be the first to admit I’m postpartum I’m postpartum

All the other parents have been lined up here for years I don’t know how they got so early They talk about the weather and all their favourite shows But I haven’t seen any of them And the women still like shopping and the men they still like games And every single one has got a tell The end of days is coming but life is hard enough It’s best not to dwell I’m bored but I need you to settle down and rally round the stump I’m not much for conversation but we can cuddle if you want We got a note through the door from a neighbour saying he was getting sick of the noise All the clattering, clanging and whining that might child makes with her toys But let her play with her goddamn things let her just bury her head Do you want to tell her that daddy fucked up and now everybody is dead? All the light is gone Sacrifice the young We just soldier on And sacrifice the young I can’t believe what I’m hearing The colour of the shape we’re in All of the children we’re eating And yet we’re celebrating As we fiddle with the edges And huddle from the cold No strength in numbers but hey The centre won’t hold All the light is gone Sacrifice the young We just soldier on And sacrifice the young

I’m under pressure to exist

about

Be Kind Cadaver are an electronic post-punk band from Sussex. The duo merge a shared passion for contemporary electronic music and noise-punk, drawing upon synthesisers, vocals, vocoder, guitars, organ, percussion and found-objects to populate their dense sound-world. Developing a sound that has been described as ‘doom pop’, unusual song structures and frantic, operatic vocals frame songs about childbirth, anxiety, gender and existentialism. Inspired by artists like Self-defence family, The Birthday Party, Yeasayer, Jello Biafra and The Knife, Be Kind Cadaver present an angry, ironic, and sonically-diverse take on post-punk music.

Their self-recorded debut EP Postpartum is released on Difficult Art and Music - a work that explores the contemporary political landscape through the prism of male postpartum and the trials of fatherhood.
